how and where to shut off the posting of the last few posts when a person enters the forums.  my members are getting wigged out at it!

It's the "historyLines" directive, you can change it in config.php, it is not yet changeable in the ACP.  You can set this to any number including 0.

The feature is best used where the chat is always visible and the users navigate the site so that they constantly have some reference of the conversation and not get an empty chat everytime they go to a different page or refresh the page they're on.
