I can't find this in the navbar template, I know nothing about scripting but this even looks like it maybe different type of script to what I have

It likely is different, we never added official vBulletin 4.0 support since they made a major change to how modules and plugins operate.

We are working on a different method of integration that will cut integration development costs and make vBulletin 4.0 integration possible as well.
